The Complete Rotary Mechanical Steering Kit provides a reliable and cost-effective steering solution for smaller and medium-powered outboard boats.

Designed for smooth and dependable operation, the rotary steering system transfers steering-wheel movement through a mechanical steering cable directly to the outboard motor.

It is an excellent choice for aluminium fishing boats, recreational boats, pontoons and other applications where hydraulic steering is not required.

Complete Steering System

The kit is designed to provide the primary components required for a mechanical steering installation, including:

  • Rotary steering helm
  • Mechanical steering cable
  • Helm mounting/bezel components
  • Installation hardware
  • Connection to compatible outboard steering systems

Steering wheel sold separately unless specifically selected or stated as included.

Choose Your Cable Length

Mechanical steering cables are available in different lengths to suit different boat and console layouts.

Select the appropriate cable length when ordering. Correct cable length is important for smooth steering operation and proper cable routing.

Available lengths can include 14 ft through 16 ft, subject to stock availability.

Mechanical vs Hydraulic Steering

Mechanical steering provides an affordable, simple and dependable solution for many smaller outboard installations.

For larger and higher-horsepower outboards, hydraulic steering provides lighter steering effort, reduced feedback and improved control.

AluBoats recommends selecting the steering system according to the outboard manufacturer's requirements, steering-system rating and boat configuration rather than horsepower alone.

For higher-powered applications, see our SeaFirst Hydraulic Steering Kits.
