Bluetooth Battery Monitoring
The AluBoats-supplied Lithium Valley batteries feature Bluetooth connectivity, allowing compatible wireless monitoring of battery information.
This gives the boat owner a convenient way of monitoring the battery's operating status without relying solely on a conventional voltage gauge.
Integrated Battery Management System – BMS
An integrated Battery Management System (BMS) helps manage and protect the battery during charging and discharging.
The BMS is an important part of a modern LiFePO₄ battery system and helps provide safe, reliable and efficient battery operation.
Lightweight LiFePO₄ Technology
Lithium Iron Phosphate technology offers substantial advantages over conventional lead-acid deep-cycle batteries for marine auxiliary applications.
Benefits include:
-
Significantly reduced battery weight
-
High usable energy capacity
-
Stable voltage delivery
-
Excellent deep-cycle performance
-
High energy efficiency
-
Maintenance-free operation
-
Integrated electronic battery management
-
Excellent solution for weight-sensitive aluminium boats
Reducing battery weight is particularly beneficial in aluminium boats where overall weight, load distribution and performance are important considerations.
Ideal for Marine Electronics & Accessories
The Lithium Valley 100Ah and 200Ah batteries are excellent auxiliary power sources for equipment such as:
-
Fish finders and sonar
-
GPS and navigation electronics
-
Boat lighting
-
USB and 12V outlets
-
Stereo and entertainment systems
-
Pumps and accessories
-
Compatible trolling motors
-
General onboard electronics
-
Other suitable 12V auxiliary equipment
AluBoats Recommended Dual-Battery Setup
For boats fitted with a petrol outboard motor, AluBoats recommends keeping the engine starting system separate from the auxiliary electrical system.
Engine Cranking Battery:
A dedicated cranking battery selected according to the outboard manufacturer's starting requirements.
Lithium Auxiliary Battery:
A dedicated Lithium Valley LiFePO₄ battery used for fish finders, navigation equipment, lighting, trolling motors and other onboard accessories.
This arrangement helps protect the engine's dedicated cranking battery from being discharged while onboard electronics are being used.
IMPORTANT – LITHIUM BATTERIES REQUIRE A LITHIUM-COMPATIBLE CHARGER
LiFePO₄ lithium batteries must be charged using a lithium-compatible battery charger or a smart charger with a dedicated LiFePO₄/Lithium charging profile.
Do not use a conventional lead-acid battery charger unless the charger manufacturer specifically confirms that the charger is suitable for LiFePO₄ batteries and provides the correct lithium charging profile.
Using an unsuitable charger or incorrect charging mode can result in improper charging, BMS protection activation, reduced battery performance and potentially reduced battery service life.
AluBoats Recommended Charger
Victron Blue Smart IP65 12V/25A Smart Battery Charger
AluBoats recommends the Victron Blue Smart IP65 12V/25A as an excellent charging solution for the Lithium Valley 100Ah and 200Ah LiFePO₄ batteries.
The charger provides a dedicated lithium charging profile and can also be used separately for compatible conventional lead-acid and AGM cranking batteries by selecting the appropriate charging mode.
This means one quality charger can be used to maintain both the boat's lithium auxiliary battery and compatible engine cranking battery individually.
Always select the correct battery chemistry/profile before charging. Do not use a lead-acid reconditioning programme on a lithium battery.
